About Cool City Customs
Cool City Customs has come a long way in a short period of time after facing a variety of challenges and obstacles that had been set before them. Bill Hattan, the owner of Cool City Customs, suffered a near-fatal accident in 2002 when a car traveling 80mph struck him in the construction zone where he was working. While one of his co-workers passed away in the incident, Hattan managed to survive through a 45-day coma and the loss of his legs. However this was nothing that was going to keep Bill off of his bike. An accident of this nature usually affects people in a pretty significant way, but not Bill Hattan. Bill decided he was not going to let any obstacle get in his way of starting his own custom Chopper company. While lying in the hospital bed one day, a friend came to see him with a gift that said "The Ride of Your Life". This tag line inspired Bill to start a new life as the owner of Cool City Customs.
Opening this shop was a dream come true for me because I am a motorcycle enthusiast and I've had to go through many hardships in my life since 2002, but I've managed to overcome a great deal and create this bike shop, which has been a great experience.

Through it all, Cool City Customs has become one of the nation's premier motorcycle custom shops in Lyons, Michigan. It is amazing to see where the shop and Cool City has come since opening in 2005. Cool City has received several top awards at various bike shows across the country, and has created many great relationships with companies such as Michigan International Speedway.
On December 1, 2007, Cool City Customs expanded their operations to include a retail supplies and apparel store, which is located at 212 Kent Street, Portland, MI. The store offers many accessory items, such as Brooks leather coats, vests, and chaps. They also offer clothing, patches, saddle bags, helmets, Global Vision riding glasses, and many other off-road and street biker related items.
It is great to see where Cool City Customs started, but we're more excited for the future. Our goal is to become the best Custom bike shop in the United States. We plan to accomplish this with great customer service, high quality products, and an affordable price.
